TAM ARC Volunteers: Scheduling and more...

Hello ARC Volunteers-

Thanks to those of you who participated in the Collins Memorial Library Tour. As it appeared to be a raging success, I will try to arrange another fun outing in the not so distant future. Perhaps UWT next? ST. Martin’s College Library? Feel free to weigh in thoughts and suggestions.

Also, scheduling is a bit challenging this month. We tend to get a bit of flux this time of year so if you can help with the following available shifts, please let me know:

Third Thursday, August 19          10 am – 1:30 pm (though I really need someone until 3:30 pm, if you can)

Or                                             1:30 – 3:30 pm

Thursday, August 26                   10 am – 1:30 pm

Sunday, August 29                      10 am – 1:30 pm

                                                1:30 – 5 pm

While I am emailing about scheduling, I have had just one person willing to read to children so far (thank you, Marcia) for the First Wednesday ARC Story Time (not a good name so I am open to suggestions there too). I need folks who are willing to, potentially, interact with children and their adult companions for about 20 minutes at a go in the form of reading a book (paraphrasing OK). I hope to finalize this to include in Museum Notes.

Wednesday, September 1            Marcia Bachelor

Wednesday, October 6                ??????

Wednesday, November 3 ??????

Thank you!

-Jana

TAM ARC: Last Year in Review

Hello ARC Volunteers-

Below is the breakdown of attendance for last fiscal year, for those that enjoy keeping track. Our attendance compared to last year is up 1%. That is actually fantastic and shows a steady growth up from the 8% average we had even a couple of years ago.

Last year I came to you with a proposal to have a story time in the ARC and several of you responded with interest but the plan did not come to fruition. However, now we really are moving forward with the plan to offer story time in the ARC on 1st Wednesdays of the month from 11 am – about 20 minutes later. I am wondering if any of you would be willing to “sign up” for September, October, or November? You will be asked to read children’s stories out loud to families. You even get to pick the books. Ideally, we will read different stories every month and we will try to choose books that correspond to current exhibitions. This will probably take a couple of months to take off but it could result in even better attendance numbers and more interaction with the ARC.
